Dr. S.J. Habayeb is the WHO Representative to India
since January 2003. Prior to joining WHO, he was Lead Public Health
Specialist at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, where he has worked
for 16 years in the regions of Europe, Middle East, North Africa, Latin
America & the Caribbean, and South Asia.
Dr Habayeb obtained his Medical Degree from the
University of Bordeaux, France. He holds a Master's Degree in Health Planning &
Administration and a Joint Master's of Public Health in Epidemiology from the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA. His post-graduate training includes Internal
Medicine, Preventive Medicine and Tropical Medicine. He is a Fellow of the
American College of Epidemiology.
His main professional interests include outcome-oriented national health planning and poverty
alleviation; health sector reform and decentralization; sustainable financing and resource mobilization; essential public
health functions; communicable disease control and HIV/AIDS; public health policy; regulatory and legal aspects in
public health. |
