Dr. Stephen Sosler has
joined in August 2009 as the Medical Officer for Routine Immunization and
Measles Control providing technical assistance in accelerating the programme planning, implementation and monitoring of the
national routine immunization programme and measles
mortality reduction activities India and member states of the
South East Asia Region.
Dr. Sosler completed
his PhD and MPH in epidemiology at the Tulane University School of Public
Health and Tropical Medicine. While
working for Tulane University, he conducted malaria research in Kenya and Eritrea before joining the
Centers for Disease Control & Prevention in 2003. For the past 5 ½ years Dr. Sosler was assigned to the WHO Inter-Country Support Team
for Central Africa where he supported 11 countries, concentrating on control
of measles, yellow fever, MNT and strengthening routine immunization
systems. In addition, Dr. Sosler has lived and worked extensively in Latin America
and the Caribbean.
