Dr Partha Haldar is working as National Consultant for HIV
Epidemiology and Surveillance at the WHO Country Office India since
2007. His main responsibilities are to assist the National Professional
Officer (HIV) in providing technical support to the surveillance process for
year-end levels and trends of the HIV epidemic in India, including monitoring the
implementation of surveillance activities and quality assurance of data
collection, preparation of technical reports, training modules and imparting
training. In addition, he also assists in HIV drug resistance
surveillance, monitoring and evaluation activities of programmes, including
the Anti Retroviral Therapy programme of the Government of India. Prior to
this assignment he has been working in the Environment Health Project, an
USAID funded initiative focusing on mother and child health for the urban
poor in India
(2006 to 2007).
He holds a Medical Doctor degree with his post graduation (M.D.) in
Community Medicine from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi.
