Shamila Sharma is working in
WHO-India since June 2008.
Sharma shifted to the development
sector in 2006 joining UNICEF as media consultant for the polio eradication programme in Uttar Pradesh. She moved on to WHO-National
Polio Surveillance Project in 2007 to handle communication for polio programme at the national level.
She started her career with a
news agency and moved up to senior editorial position during her 16-year
stint before taking up an assignment in the Gulf as assistant editor of the
region’s first English daily.
A graduate in History Honours from Delhi
University with a Diploma in
Journalism from the Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Delhi, she has about 19 years experience,
mostly as a media person.
