As a resource person for WHO (SEARO and WPRO) he
completed missions in Timor-Leste, Sri Lanka,
Nepal, Bhutan, Lao PDR & Solomon Islands on issues like laboratory
strengthening, antimicrobial resistance and use, drafting the lab component
for a global fund proposal for health system strengthening, laboratory
information management system, along with contributions to guidelines, SOPs
and training resources.
Prior to this assignment, Dr Sharma was a Senior
Consultant at the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital,
Delhi, in the
department of Clinical Microbiology where he worked for more than 13 years.
He graduated from Maulana Azad Medical
College, and obtained a master's
degree in medical microbiology from Lady Hardinge
Medical College.
