Dr Sitanshu Kar has joined WHO
Country Office India
in June 2008. His main responsibility is to assist in formulating work
plans, support development of proposals and monitoring for timely
implementation of all planned activities for the GOI-WHO Collaborative
Programme in technical areas of NCD prevention and Cancer control.
Prior to this assignment he worked
for two years in Population Council as Program Officer.
He graduated in Medicine from S.C.B. Medical
College, Cuttack, Orissa and
subsequently did his Post Graduation in Community Medicine from School of Public Health,
Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh.
He was awarded ‘Silver Medal’
(merit of first order) for academic excellence during his post graduation.
