Dr Ritu Singh Chauhan joined the WHO Country Office India
in August 2006 as National Consultant (Microbiology). Her main responsibility
is to provide technical assistance in the area of national disease
surveillance systems with special emphasis on strengthening laboratory
surveillance, conducting laboratory assessments, quality assurance and laboratory
networking.
Prior to this assignment, she worked for three years as
Senior Resident, Department of Microbiology at the All India Institute of
Medical Sciences, New Delhi. She graduated in medicine in 1997 and
subsequently did her post graduation in Medical Microbiology in 2002 both
from Lady Hardinge Medical College; Delhi University
Her key interests include infection control in health care
settings, fungi in the immunocompromised and microbiological surveillance of
emerging and reemerging infections.
