Assessment of Cost of Providing Adolescent Friendly Health Services
WHO has undertaken a pilot exercise of assessing the cost
of the AFHS activities to facilitate its implementation in the public health
system of the country. The unit costs per adolescent
of providing the AFHS will not only help us get a picture of the cost of
providing the service but will also help us know as to how efficiently the
services are being utilised, i.e., what is the
coverage. Simultaneous evaluation of quality of service provided will help in
establishing the relationship of cost needed with the quality of service
provided. Thus, the triangulation of data – cost, coverage and quality – will
help us in evaluating the effectiveness of the AFHS and the cost
effectiveness at a given level of quality.
