MAPM Framework and ‘4
S’ Strategy: Convergence of RCH and HIV programmes
at district level with a focus on young people
WHO is supporting
Government of Tamil Nadu in using MAPM framework in developing converged
district action plans focusing on young people. The
MAPM (Mapping Adolescent Programming and Measurement) Framework helps programme planners to focus on the most important
interventions, determinants, and behaviours in
order to achieve priority health and development outcomes. MAPM framework helps to design and implement more effective programmes
and also to identify what to measure to demonstrate implementation
of a programme and its impact on adolescent health and development. It complements
other tools and approaches to designing, monitoring and evaluating adolescent
health and development programmes. Considering the higher
vulnerability of young people towards HIV/AIDS the
WHO strategy of “Strategic information, Services and supplies, Supportive
environment and Strengthening other sectors” (4S) outlines approaches
for addressing the young people issues in RCH and HIV/AIDS programmes.
