Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health Strategy under RCH-II
WHO assisted Government of
India in designing programmatic framework of adolescent health strategy for
the National Programme implementation Plan under
the Reproductive and Child Health–II (RCH II).
Government of India
has positioned Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) Strategy as
one of the key technical strategies in RCH II Programme
under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). This strategy focuses on
reorganizing the existing public health system in order to meet the service
needs of adolescents. Steps are being taken to ensure improved service
delivery for adolescents during routine hours as well as in the dedicated
clinics on fixed days and timings at the Sub-Center, Primary
Health Center,
Community Health
Center and District Hospitals
and also through the outreach activities. A core package of services would
include preventive, promotive, curative and
counseling services for adolescents.
