This
is an autonomous institute conducting postgraduate courses to meet the
country's needs for specialist and medical teachers. The Department of Obs. & Gyne. provides patient care services and also conducts
research in related areas especially, fertility regulation and maternal and
child health.

Terms of Reference

(1) To collaborate with WHO to promote research and research capacity
strengthening in reproductive health.
(2) To conduct a study of psychosocial, cultural and service factors
affecting reproductive morbidity among rural women in India.
(3) To strengthen the National Neonatal Perinatal
Database Network for providing programme relevant
insights into the current status of neonatal-perinatal
health.
(4) To conduct research studies on home based management of young infants,
maternal mortality, validity and feasibility of using syndrome approach for
the management of RTI/STD at PHC level, HIV, profile of women with
polycystic ovaries, adolescent health, Gender role perception and women's health,
female foeticide, genital malignancies,
contraception and medical termination of pregnancy.
(5) To conduct research on herbal products.
