Introduction

Origin of the proposal, technical programme which is sponsoring, reasons for proposed designation

This centre was initially made a WHO CC for Research in Human Reproduction on 1 July 1972. Since then, the Institute has been successfully collaborating with both HQ and SEARO offices. The original designation in 1972 was terminated in 1986, when it was felt that the Institution has matured into an institution of national importance with scientists of high caliber who can complete globally for funds for research. This Centre was redesignated as a WHO CC in November 1987.

The HQ and SEARO RHR departments have been interacting with the Centre in carrying out the workplan successfully.
