Introduction
Origin of the proposal,
technical programme which is sponsoring, reasons
for proposed designation
Collaboration
between WHO and the parent Institution, Tata
Institute predates in 1986, when the present RD, Dr Uton
M. Rafei and Dr Tabib Zadeh, WHO-HQ visited the institute and initiated
collaboration in the field of urban health.
Steps that have led to this
proposal, eg site-visits by WHO staff, previous
participation of the institution, joint development of a workplan, etc.
The
TISS Department's collaboration with WHO in the area of health policy
research is particularly significant. It is the nodal centre for preparing multicountry case studies in the area of assessing the
enabling environment for health policy and systems research.
