Terms of Reference
|
1). To act as a technical resource centre for communicable disease
surveillance and control and provide technical support when requested by
WHO forimprovement of epidemiological
surveillance in the countries of the Region.
2) To assist in the evaluation and further strengthening of epidemiological
services and training in the Region when requested by WHO.
3) To develop training materials and conduct field oriented training programmes in general and disease specific
epidemiology, with special reference to new emerging and re-emerging
infectious diseases.
4) To conduct operational research on the application of new
epidemiological tools on the development of cost effective disease
surveillance and control strategies.
5) To participate in the Regional and Global networking system for
monitoring, early detection and control of communicable diseases.
6) To provide technical guidance and support to countries in the Region to
effectively respond to new emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases
when requested by WHO.
7) To participate in outbreak investigation in countries of the Region when
requested by WHO.
8) To collate epidemiological and other pertinent information on
communicable diseases in India and make it available on regular basis to
WHO/SEARO and WHO/HQ.
