DISTRICT & STATE: Salem, Tamil Nadu

LOCATION: Ymalur Block, Salem, Taml Nadu

 

Current Situation:

As per the information received from the district nodal officer of NSPCD in Salem district, 18 cases and 0 deaths of suspected Leptospirosis were reported from a school in the Ymalur block. The district RRT investigated the episode and collected serum samples from 7 cases, all of which were tested at Institute of Vector Control & Zoonosis (Hosur) and found positive for IgM antibodies to Leptospira. The patients were managed clinically and control measures taken. No more cases have been reported from the area. The district health authorities have stepped up the surveillance activities.
