Outbreak Report – Suspected Dengue in Gurgaon, Haryana

LOCATION: Saraswati Vihar locality in Gurgaon, Haryana

 

Current Situation:

Gurgaon is a satellite town of the NCR Region bordering South of Delhi. Information was received from the District Nodal Officer of NSPCD in Gurgaon regarding a suspected case of Dengue fever in the Saraswati Vihar area admitted in a private hospital. The patient is a 32-year male who presented with high fever and symptoms of viral fever with a platelet count of 40,000 per cu mm on 08.08.2004 with no history of rash or hemorrhagic manifestations. The patient was managed conservatively and became afebrile on 11.09.2004 (platelet count increased to 1,67,000 per cu mm.) after a total of 6 days of fever. The case was investigated by the district RRT who have collected serum sample from the patient and submitted to the National Institute of Communicable Diseases, Delhi. Vector control measures have been taken by the district health authorities both in the residential area as well as the place of work of the patient in Gurgaon.
