Tremendous
progress has been achieved in the area of tobacco control in India in the
last few years. The Government of India enacted comprehensive tobacco control legislation in 2003
and taking forward this strong commitment to tobacco control, India
ratified the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control in 2004. As a
culmination of all these efforts, Govt. of India launched the pilot National
Tobacco Control Program in 2006-07.

on-going support to Ministry of Health & Family Welfare & State
