YOUTH BASED ADVOCACY

 

·  Tobacco control awareness campaign involving college students, civil society, local administration and general public undertaken in Delhi and a mass awareness run on 'Tobacco Free Youth' organized.

 

 

·  Leadership Training for youth on tobacco control was organized by the youth empowerment and development wing of Art of Living in NCR of Delhi.

 

 

 

·         Tobacco control sensitization campaign was undertaken in 7 districts of Rajasthan viz. Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Bharatpur and Jaipur is being undertaken by Centre for Consumer Action, Research & Training (CUTS), a Jaipur based NGO.

·         An intervention undertaken by WIA Cancer Institute, Chennai to create tobacco free educational institutions and public places in Chennai through the trained youth advocates. A team of 250 youth advocates in 10 colleges of Chennai has been formed to carry out tobacco control activities and implementation of tobacco control laws.

·         Anti Tobacco Awareness workshops for sensitizing schools/college students, volunteers and general public in the districts of Pondicherry and Andaman Nicobar Islands organized by Mother Teresa Charitable Trust, Chennai

 

INTERVENTIONS FOR COMPLIANCE OF LAWS RELATED TO BAN ON ADVERTISING, PROMOTION AND SPONSORSHIP OF TOBACCO PRODUCTS

 

·  A study to evaluate the impact of viewing of anti tobacco audio visual messages/spots during the screening of films in the cinema halls of NCR and Delhi undertaken. 

           

·  A sensitization workshop on tobacco control issues for media personnel from Southern films/television industry organized in Chennai on 26th April 2009. Over 100 participants like producer, cameraman, director from media fraternity of radio, television, films and journalists were sensitized in the workshop.

 

ANTI TOBACCO IEC MATERIALS

 

·   A series of posters on tobacco control for sensitizing various stakeholders were developed and disseminated at national and state level.
