Ramakrishna Mission Home
of Service, Varanasi
observed World No Tobacco Day 2008 by organizing training workshops for youth
facilitators from various blocks of Varanasi and Mirzapur
district. They were trained on various aspects of tobacco control and tobacco
control laws.
A “Tobacco-Free Youth”
rally was organized involving youth groups. A public meeting was also
convened with participation from police officials, youth, media and eminent
citizens.
The meeting was followed
by a cultural presentation in which WNTD theme songs and a short drama were
presented. Anti-tobacco audio spots were aired on local radio channels to
generate awareness among masses.
