3. Expert Committee

An expert committee is a group of EAP members convened by the Director-General of WHO for the purpose of reviewing and making technical recommendations on a subject of interest to the Organization. A member of an expert committee is an expert appointed by the Director-General to serve at a particular meeting of that committee. As a general rule, the Director-General selects one or more EAP members of an expert committee on the basis of the principles of equitable geographical representation, gender balance, a fair balance of experts from developed and developing countries, representation of different trends of thought, approaches and practical experience in various parts of the world, and an appropriate interdisciplinary balance.
