About WHO:

• A specialized agency of the United Nations - it is the lead organization on Global Health.

• An inter-governmental organization, it works in collaboration with its member states through the Ministry of Health.

• WHO's objective is the attainment by all people of the best possible level of health i.e. "Health for All".

• In India, WHO provides technical cooperation, collaboration and coordination for health to the Government in support of national health development efforts.
